Brake Cooling Ducting...

Question for the brake gurus.

I notice that there are two plastic plates on the very bottom left and right of the front fascia (bumper). I am not aware of fog lights or any factory accessory fitting in there, and right now i have plastic plates just covering the holes. I actually got this idea off my Z06 vette, but has anyone ever pulled those plates and used them as brake cooling ducts?

i figure if i got some Dryer tubing, (the flexible hosing they use for clothers dryer exhausts) and cut a hole in the wheel well liner, i could probably take fresh air through the front of these holes and bring it in and blast it onto the back of my brakes/ rotors.

anybody ever done it?

if not, you think it would be hard?

sort of.

except i was planning on completely cutting out the center of those vents (not just drilling holes in it for air into the engine bay) and then using the tubing to take the air directly into the wheel wells and onto the back of the calipers/ rotor.

think it would make a difference?

i guess im looking for SOMETHING to put down in those plastic holes. i think its stupid that infiniti put those there.

Are you talking about the plastic covers on each side of the front bumper (the black plastic mesh)?

yes. i was going to cut those out and actually put tubing maybe only 3 inches or so straight back in to the wheel well.

my main issue i am come down to is the best way to route the tubes in order to give the most flexibility and not have to worry about pinching or cracking under any loads or angles

Brake Duct

I did something similar to MaxToTheG37, however to accommodate 3" OD brake duct, I did make an opening for the duct to fit. I have already Rivet-ted them so I will post more pictures when I get back home.

Also I have finished making splash guards to mount them to cool the disc rotors directly.

Also for your reference

joo I think that this is a little overkill for our cars if it where only a street car as i feel that the factory brakes are pretty good. however if it sees a lot of track time this is an awsome mod and i can appreciate the work and effort behind it. good luck and let us know how it works out.

Nice! Update when appropriate.

Do you track or ding this solely because you can? OEM brakes or aftermarket BBK?

For me a track day every 2 - 3 weeks is a must. Otherwise I get too stressed. End up getting a lot of speeding tickets. LOL

Even with HP+ brake pads, after 2-3 laps my brake starts to fade.

First tried to research already existing Brake ducts for our car. Ended up finding one for 370Z very similar to G37S. However just for the flanges they were almost a Thousand.

So to have more fun at the track and to be safer. Decided to DIY on my own. So far it is going well.

So it is a must for me.

For those who does not track. A brake duct is not needed.
