Doing brakes for the first time on my G37S. I made a stupid mistake a loosened the wrong bolts on the caliper. I snugged them back up, but can't find the torque spec in the FSM. The BR section shows those bolts on the caliper, but doesn't provide any torque spec.
Anyone know what the proper torque spec is for these two bolts?
That's pretty grimy. Have you considered rebuilding them?
Frequently, lol. I'd like to have them powder coated but struggle with the idea of how much it costs just to add a little color to the car. For now, I am just doing the pads and rotors. I might consider a more in-depth disassembly and cleaning over the winter.
Next question: what's everyone's strategy for getting a torque wrench on the lower bolts on the rear calipers?
Ah, found a solution for the lower rear caliper bolts. If I use a shallow 3/8" drive socket, then I can fit an extension over the traction arm. Sometimes I need to talk out loud (or on the internet) to find a solution.
I found references to people just using a box wrench, but I like putting a torque wrench on important bolts. Found others using a crow foot wrench, but that seems like an easy way to strip a bolt head.
@socketz67 found a guy who does this on the car, at your location, and has done it enough times to bring some solid skills to the project. Pretty darn impressive, and very reasonably priced.
