Interestingly enough my G had black-painted calipers (now Rochester's bright orange) behind black 5-spoke 20" boat anchor wheels. Looked nice though. Didn't stick out at all - almost looked stock.

OK that didn't work. 4-5 posts down on first page of my build thread, there's pics (link in sig)

IMO, red lettering against gold calipers is just an awful color combo. It clashes terribly, and I will never understand why Nissan chose that combo with the R34.

Also, while I get why you like it because of JDM history and all that, you don't actually have Brembo calipers.

Once again I find myself getting all caught up in $10 decals on a $1000 project. It's what we do, LOL.

We are all come from very different backgrounds and upbringings, so what is appealing to each of us will vary significantly. I like analogous colors and themes that feel OEM and are inspired by nostalgia. Something that "pops" is not my cup of tea, but I understand that others may prefer this approach. Intriguing is probably the best term I can come up with to describe my taste.

Orly? Who has chrome wheels? On a sedan. In 2025.

Whatever you do here, you be you and you'll probably be happy. I'm just a voice in the wind, buddy. Stick to what you want.

I guess I never looked at chrome as being in your face, but I guess I can see why some may see it that way as staring into expertly chromed steel is just very satisfying and commands attention. For me, it likely links back to growing up with Harleys, Hot Rods and my passion for history from the middle ages. With that said, I think it really only looks good on grays, silvers and whites for reasons stated earlier.

I also noticed that KBB acknowledges that it was a dealer installed option (3K in 2013) per below:

Cool that everyone has different tastes based on their experiences and story, makes things more interesting.

This is an interesting product: https://vinylflare.com/products/infi...-cut-vinyl-kit

Precut vinyl overlays for the calipers.

Also, check out the OEM color Akebono selected for the Volvo Polestar Calipers :-)

The vinyl is so inexpensive you might as well buy a set just for the curiosity of it all. It might be fun dressing up your existing calipers. Or it might be just really stupid. Either way it will keep you engaged in the project, so I say buy a set and go for it. Who knows? You got absolutely nothing to lose with an experiment like this.

Metallic yellow is the caliper color that had my attention for years, and then when it came time to actually make a project out of it, I leaned into powder-coated metallic orange. Happy I did, but yellow was a very strong contender. I was originally thinking of something like the yellow on the original Acura NSX, which was more yellow and less gold than this color. But this color is beautiful too. If I had seen this pic last year, not sure what I would have done.

I was going to be the "guinea pig" on this precut vinyl overlay kit... until I received it in the post. Unfortunately, you will need a PhD in "jig saw puzzles" in order to figure out how to install the bazillion pieces and, knowing how things go with tiny pieces and all those "seams," I can almost guarantee they will not adhere fully and eventually "disappear."

No installation instructions included- just basic "How to" on their website.

They claim they can not print the lettering small enough for the rear calipers which is why they include the Fuji logo. They should have stated this on their site before ordering, but... Doesn't matter as I ordered "Akebono" lettering and they won't answer my emails now. Whether or not I actually try to install this only time will tell. I know my patience level so I doubt it.

At least the V-brace overlay I bought for the Zed/4 looks promising so all hope might not be lost... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Enough said.

May others be more informed...

I wouldn’t think that vinyl over the entire caliper would last due to heat. This is a show-car-only thing, I bet.

I mean, most of us that have added the akebono stickers to coated calipers did so with multiple coats of clear sealant.

I applaud you for taking the plunge just to see what this is all about. Agree that I too would be lost without detailed instructions. Is the vinyl designed to only cover the visible areas of the caliper? I can't figure out how that long skinny piece would be applied (maybe it just looks bigger in the pic than it really is?). The logos are available for cheap online if the ones that came with the kit are the wrong size. Based on the cost, this will blow up the G37 Reddit sub once introduced.

It wasn't the first 50-odd quid I burned on a "gimmick" and likely won't be the last. Once the weather changes I'll try to see how the damn puzzle fits together but, as Rotarymike opined, this is likely only going to be practical for "show cars." I do not see these holding up under normal driving conditions despite the sellers' claims of "9-year 'expected life'" at temperatures "450-460°F." I just know those pieces will peel at each and every seam.

It was worth a shot. I just do not have the time, literally and figuratively, to deal with getting mine powder coated proper. And, unless I find a decent set of wheels that I actually like, I will likely never get to it at this point.

Oh well...

Really? All things being relative, don't you own multiple cars, and aren't you retired already?

Yes to all. But time and tide are catching up to me.
