Bleeding Brakes

Hi there, im replacing my rotors and pads this week, i was just wondering from a video that i watch, that the person bled the brakes before taking the calipers off. If that necessary to do or is it only a regular maintenance of the brake fluid.

Thank you in advance

Just follow this for bleeding after replacing your rotors and pads. I’ve never bleed my calipers prior to a brake job.

No need to bleed brakes unless you’re opening the hydraulic system, or doing a brake flush, for pad/rotor change it is not needed.

Brakes should be flushed/bled every 2-3 years regardless of mileage. More so if you're in a very humid environment. Brake fluid absorbs moisture which can lead to internal corrosion and brake fade under heavy use. It's cheap maintenance if you do it yourself.

Flushing the fluid while doing the brakes is a good idea. The wheels are already off.
