General opinion about brand of pads and rotors

Went to the Nissan dealer and got quoted 1200 CAD plus tax for pads and rotors front and rear. My buddy who owns a shop said he can get me wbr pads and rotors installed for 650, or Akebono pads and rotors for 950. Is WBR a good brand or should I upgrade to the akebono Even with the hefty price jump.

The Akebonos will be a cosmetic change for you unless you plan to put your car on a track. Never heard of WBR; maybe your shop can get StopTech at a reasonable price?

Another way to look at this (no pun) is how visually exposed your non-sport brakes are with whatever wheels you've got. If you really don't see the brakes as something noticeable, don't bother with the BBK upgrade, and vise versa.

Do Akebono make pads and rotors for the smaller, standard brakes? He might be talking about that and not swapping out the calipers.

No Akebono-brand for small U.S. Brakes. Canuckistan may have different options.

Never heard of WBR. You kind of need brakes so I wouldn't cheap out on them. I went with Akebono ACT888's and loved them. I recently had a seized caliper that caused my rear pads to wear down unevenly. I needed a quick fix so I just bought some cheaper pads at a local autoparts store. There's a night and day difference and not in a good way. I'm planning on going back to the Akebono's once it gets warm and keep these as a spare set.

If you're mechanically inclined, brakes and rotors are an easy install. Once you get to your brakes, it's only like 2 more bolts to pull the rotor off. All 4 shouldn't take more than a couple hours and save you a lot of $.

correct I’m not swapping out the non sport calipers. I was debating on it, but I plan on upgrading cars in a few years
