New to cars, is this a leak or a “sweat”.


Right rack & pinion.

Is this a leak or a “sweat”? Can this be excess lubricant? I’m no car guy but this is what the mechanic sent back.

As long as the reservoir is staying level I wouldnt touch a thing

I disagree. Have that inspected. Is there something above it that’s leaking down onto it?

I'm on vq number 4 and they all have looked like this. I'm not saying not to inspect it looks like you have and mechanic wants to replace the rack?

I’ll check the PS level fluid today to see where it at. I don’t see the ground with any drips or anything.

when I got it inspected Idk if they pulled the boot to see if it’s leaking red fluid or not. I also checked myself yesterday to see if there was fluid on the ground and there wasn’t. I’ll be checking the fluid level today

he recommends doing a full replacement. It’ll run me about $700 - 800 he said
