sunroof leak!

so my G37 Sedan is having a sunroof leak. It is on the driver's side and I already tried to fix it by cleaning the drain plug and by adding part of a pen attached at the end of it to extend the drain plug. It is still leaking and I do not know what to do. I know it is a sunroof leak because when I wet the sunroof you can see the leak come from where the drain plug is located. it does feel like I attached that drain plug correctly and everything seems to be fine. I am honestly stuck at this point because I do not know what to do anymore with fixing this leak. it makes it harder how it's in a tight spot too.

I tried that adding the pen thing too but I didn't feel like trying to get it back in. So instead i removed out the drain plug and just put a another tube on top of the exisiting tube and guided it through the hole where the drain plug used to go.

how has it held up since you have done that? it fixed your issue with the sunroof leak?

I wasted my time with that "extension fix". Slowed the leak somewhat. Bought a new one, and not a drop through rainstorm after rainstorm. Buy and replace the plastic drain at the firewall.

The new one was redesigned. The old design should never have worked for 160 thousand miles.

Do you, by chance, have the part number for the redesigned drain/grommet?

I don't have the receipt readily available. I installed it about 6 months ago. The infiniti/nissan dealer parts sites will give the new number. That's how I got it. Then I ordered it from my local Nissan dealership because they had it in stock the same day. Same as the 370z.

Why did this thread get moved here??? This is a common issue for our cars. It seems weird to move this of all the threads in the Sedan forum.

FYI - I solved this by yanking out the old front sunroof drain lines, and re-routing new drains on the firewall in the driver and passenger side respectively.

Got the necessary parts from the Home Depot plumbing aisle. Need to drop down the front corner(s) of the headliner careful not to crease. You will also need to tap into AC floor drain line on passenger side. Need to remove parking brake to get access to existing hole in firewall. Job requires EXACTLY 10' of hose so buy 20' of hose if you want to be safe.

Items needed:
- 12mm deep socket for parking brake
- 10' 3/8 vinyl hose from home depot
- 3/8" t-coupler adaptor
- 90 degree coupler
- 10 steel fasteners (7 on passenger, 3 on driver)
