Help Need new brakes
Need new brakes
I have the regular sport oem brakes on my 2015 g37, and no matter what I do, this crap squeak, cold start backing out garage, parking, even when car warm it squeak. Every time I go to dealership those fools tell me nothing wrong with anything.
This is so embarrassing, anytime I go somewhere and have stop car to park or just stop, I have to watch people turn they head to check who cheap squeaker car near them lol. At this point I can’t take it, I’ve even had dreams of the squeaking noise, this car haunting me lol. Please someone tell me what to do to replace this crap I’m dealing with.
new to cars so not sure what info I need to provide for help but my front tires 245/35/20, rear 285/30/20

Questions...
Stock rotors? Are the surfaces ok? If not stock, you might need a different material pad...
Stock pads? Did they chamfer the leading edges? Anti rattle clips in place? Any goop applied?
Stock lines? Braided will provide a firmer "hit"
Are you light on the pedal? Will tend to squeal until flash rust scrubs off.
And do you keep any pool chemicals in your garage? This can cause oxidation on more than just your rotors...

i bought car used with 29k miles on it, I just reach 40k this week so everything that’s on car came this way, didn’t buy any aftermarket parts.
in garage I don’t keep anything chemical wise in there.i have to lightly press brakes to make the squeak noise not be too loud.
Why are you embarrassed? #racecar. The squeak is typically of four-piston caliper brakes. You could replace the pads with new OEM (including shims) and thoroughly clean the calipers. Even when new, my Akebonos squeaked for the first three stops when cold.
brake pad formulation goes like this: stopping power, low dust and quietness...you pretty much have to pick two out of the three...
the dealership is probably referring to pad thickness for nothing being wrong...your pads probably make noises when they are cold (this is different from the engine being cold/warm) because they ahave a more aggressive pad composition...
quieter pads tend to be lower dusting as well...
you can quiet down nosiy/aggressive pads by getting cleaning the calipers up, getting rid of pad deposits by re-breaking them in and regreasing but for quieter pads/relatively less maintenance, get some ceramic pad's that are advertised/formulated to be quiet...Centric makes "posi-quiet" pads for example..akebono brand pad's are generally known to be pretty quiet too as they are the oem supplier on a lot of cars (they make the calipers on your car)

It would only be embarrassing if you were squeaking in a Geo Metro lol. This is a sports car that comes with 4 caliper pistons in front and 2 caliper pistons in the back. Most sport cars now barely have 2 caliper pistons in the front. It’s bound to have some type of squeak.
With 44k on the original Akebono brakes, mine look exactly like yours. Same scoring on the rotors, same rusty edges, same discolored hats. However, they only squeak when backing out of the garage after sitting all night. After that, no squeak. But (!!!) they are starting to pulsate through the pedal when using them, and that's only going to get worse.
You've got options, OP, from the freebie of turning up the radio to buying all new components. If it's truly making you nuts, get new brakes and move on.
$500 to $600 in OEM parts, 3-4 hours shop time. Rounds out to $1000, give or take.

If it helps you feel any better - I recently upgraded mine to BBK with slotted rotors and SS brake lines - Mine squeals super loud the first few times I hit on my brakes. usually backing my car off the driveway but it goes away.
This morning it was raining and the squeals were loud enough to wake up the neighbors hahhahha but hey the performance is there so I don't really mind the few squeals.
