Help The shakes
The shakes
I have a 2012 Journey RWD. I get a shake/bounces at around 75 mph. You can feel it coming at 70 then noticeable 75 and 80 is way worse. I brought it up to about 100 just to see if it went away still persisted. I know the first thing people will tell me is the wheel balance. I have had 2 sets of tires on it, not name brand, and Michelin. Same shake. balanced 4 times by to different shops and then roadforced by another shop twice with minimal to no improvements. Wheels are straight as checked by roadforce. I have replaced front hubs , all rotors upgraded to stoptech . Putting it in neutral at 80 doesn't make a difference and there is no clunking or clicking in the drive shaft to indicate a u-joint issue, feels solid. I know the X models had front u-joint failure for driveline vibration but im assuming this isn't it. The front shakes some but the rear shakes worse. The tire shop told me the rear shocks needed replaced. They weren't leaking and there is no significant bounce or rough ride just thought he was being the typical tire chain trying to upsell me. Is it possible the shocks are the issue?? The car has 82k on it. I doubt they have been changed. Tie rods feel tight with no play as well. No crushed bushings from inspection.
Im at a loss here. This is my second G. first was an 03 sedan. I love this car and just want it to be smooth on a road trip.I got it used from a dealer and Ive kind of killed my budget on all the maintenance stuff(that dealers ignore, besides oil change and brake pads) and a stillen gen 3, except shocks and struts. Rear shocks have been ordered just in case because I can swap those out myself with minimal labor. Any insight or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I would have said maybe a bent wheel or something like that, but if you're sure its not that, what about an alignment? maybe your toe is off or a bushing is seized..theres a few that can seize on the rear that may cause some odd behavior under certain circumstances (I'm thinking the toe bucket bushings or traction rods)...just throwing some more ideas out at you as you've tried all the usual suspects already, good luck and be sure to update us on whether/how this gets fixed
hey thanks for responding. Actually I had the alignment done after the last roadforce. I left that out my fault. Ill have to jack it up and check the bushings though as I haven't thoroughly been through those.
Theres no Guibo if theres a Rebro, one is used in place of the other but yes clocking the driveshaft as per the TSB may resolve DL noise issues but probably less likely on a 3 bolt driveshaft with a guibo...its just annoying to do cause you have to disassemble a lot, clock, reassemble, and test drive and repeat...theres also a centre support bearing that wears on the driveshaft that may wear and require replacement if its a DL issue and not a bent wheel or somthing
