Rubber Grease for Calipers?

Alright been searching for this, cant find it...what the hell is rubber grease?

Brakes section of the FSM (page 43) specifically calls for "rubber grease" on the caliper slide pins and a silicone based grease on the pad contact points. The only things I've been able to find is something called red rubber grease.

Any ideas or what are you guys using on your slide pins? Tempted to swing by dealer on way home and ask them

Used the goo that came with the pads. No issues at all.
I assume the rubber grease they refer to is the same stuff they use on the hinges, and weather stripping when you pay for the fancy service interval level.

Gotcha- that would actually make sense, provided its also good at high temps. Don't want to put something on thats going to swell up the rubber and then ill have another issue down the road

You want to use a silicone based grease as it doesn't degrade or dissolve the rubber housing. The other grease they are referring to is your typical brake grease:

I usually have a bottle/tube of this for brake applications.

Thanks..thats what i keep seeing in my searches- that silicone based grease. But then i wonder why the FSM is calling the other stuff that goes on the pad contact points "silicone based grease" as well. You see what i mean- if its the same thing, why go to the trouble of calling one something else?

Anyway, rolling the dice, bought this stuff from NAPA, its silicone based. Will try that and see if it fixes the issue.

I see what you mean but you'll be fine. I've been using the stuff in the link for over 200k miles (two different cars, 70k with the G) and have never had an issue.

Good to know this is the right path. Took the pins out to clean them and sure as can be, the top one with the rubber boot at the end was a bit tough to pull out. Got a kit from Autozone, put everything back together with the silicone stuff and its smooth as can be. Bought the car 6 months ago with 23k (second G) and they did the brakes before i picked it up, guessing tech used the wrong grease and thats why it was sticking...so now of course im wondering if i should premptively clean and relube the others. Never ends😁

Appreciate the assist guys.
