how to hack replace a sway bar stud

Thought I would make a post on this as I couldn't find any when I looked. The stud that holds the sway bar to the subframe sheared itself off when I was loosening the nut. The only way I could think to fix this without taking apart many other things was to drill through it with a 10mm (or 3/8ths) drill bit and slide a 40mm long M10x1.25 bolt through the top of the subframe. You can then tighten the sway bar by holding a ratchet on the top bolt (tricky but not too bad).

I think you could have punched out the stud and replaced it with a bolt.
