Never heard of RacingBrake. Hmm. $633/pair and no blanks.

They have been in business since 1985, so they are not new. They simply focus on racing applications mainly for track cars, so unless you frequently attend track days you probably wouldn't hear their name pop up very often. In addition to rotors they also make some VERY sweet calipers which Brembo even copied some of their features from.

But like I said they are very proud of their products and their pricing reflects that. They do, however, have some patented technology that goes into their rotors like their "open slots", and they do use similar materials, manufacturing processed and the same heat treating as used to make Formula 1 rotors. Although I doubt any of this is really that important for a street car.

I went in on the full set of Z1 2pc F&R Rotors, the Z1 "premium" SS brake lines, EBC Yellows, and Motul RBF600 (time's up for new fluid, so why not?).

Have yet to swap them all in yet, but 100% agree with everything on this thread and more. Can't wait.

By blanks do you mean solid discs (i.e. not drilling) or just 1-pc rotors? Because they do make 1 piece rotors, but not with a solid disc.

I mean no slots, no drill holes. Two-piece blanks. Maybe I'm misappropriating the word "blanks". IDK.

Here's the rationale for blanks: my Vossens have an obvious directional spoke design. With that in mind, I'd like to avoid adding yet another swept-back (or swept-forward) eye-line to the wheels. Know what I mean? That's why I was interested in the "sprinkle slot" (stupid name) that Z1 has.

But after talking about it here, it bubbled up that I needn't bother upgrading the rear rotors. So if I'm going to have OEM blanks in the rear, then I should match that with non-slotted, not-drilled (but two-piece) rotors up front.

That's my thinking for now. But it's new, and subject to change, LOL.

Here's yet another pic of my car. I don't think a sweeping design for slots or drills would look good behind Vossen CVT's.

However, R1cky's gold calipers sure would look nice. Particularly with the INFINITI decals in black like this.

I don't believe those are for our stock BBK. RacingBrake 2-piece rotors are $$$$. I remember they are close to $1000/pair for the front.

$2,065.39 to be exact excluding shipping.

I'd be curious to know where all these 2-piece rotors are made. OEM rotors are made in Japan. I might have a hard time dropping this much coin on something made by a 14 year old girl in a dimly lit foundry in China.

You're right, that was the non-sport rotor. The sport rotor for the front costs $1,150 for the pair.

Two-piece rotor (Open Slot) - 370Z (Sport) FRONT 2009

That's nuts. Could be the most awesome rotor in all creation, but nothing that I can justify for my sedan.

Saved about 700 compared to z1 package but I'm liking my new setup. Hawk HPS 5.0's and DBA 4000 T3's all around. Oem weights though...

Not a two-piece, Ryan. But I like the cross-slotted pattern.

Any comments about the HPS pads?

HPS pad...I've been using it for 24 hours so take it with a grain of salt. Not near as much bite in the beginning, but the rate of braking is extremely linear. The OEM pad was like...like a cottonmouth snake...One big *** bite and then it chokes. The HPS pad is more like an alligator, slow and steady in digestion of the pad. That probably doesn't make any sense but it does in my head

Noise is non-existent. Dust seems .... on parity with OEM pads I think, maybe 10% worse. NO MORE!

For me I'm slightly disappointed I have to press the brake further, but it is nice how reliably easy it is to use now. I think my brain just has to adapt to how this pad operates.

...................................OEM............ ....Hawk HPS
Breathing on pedal.........Mild.................Nothing
Mild Pressure.................Moderate.........Mild
Moderate Pre.................Maxed out........Moderate
Extreme Pre..................Moderate..........Extreme braking

Does this make sense? The OEM pad drops off significantly after several hard stops (think Tail of the Dragon area in NC) whereas the Hawk is just extremely linear.

What's the bed-in process as per Hawks' recommendation for the 5.0 pads Ryan?

Ryan, did you bleed your brakes when you swapped rotors and pads?

Per Hawk:

1. After installation, 6-10 stops from 30-35 applying moderate pressure
2. 2-3 stops from 40-45 applying hard pressure
3. DO NOT DRAG BRAKES
4. Allow 15 minutes for cool down
5. Brakes are ready for use

I have two bottles of Motul 600 but did not use them. I thought about bleeding the brakes but said to myself, why? I didn't remove any fluid from the calipers. I am open to suggestion as to why I should though. Additionally, I had the fluid changed only 12000 miles ago.
