Sway Bar Hitting Lower Control Arm
Sway Bar Hitting Lower Control Arm
My 2010 g37s anniversary edition was lowered with Eibach Pro-Kit lowering springs, and Stillen sway bars back in 2010. About a month later the car started making a popping/rattling noise on the drivers side every time I would go over the slightest bump in the road. It is getting so annoying and we finally took it to get it fixed. With the car in the air it was clear that the front Stillen sway bar was hitting my lower control arm and grinding it down. Anyone ever have this issue? Know how to fix it? Also I get a squeak sometimes as well. One guy that looked at it said it's the upper strut mount... The other guy said my sway bar bushings could be the blame. Thoughts?
I'm gonna ask Stillen if they sent us the wrong one by mistake... The stock sway bar is cut on the edges at a 45 degree angle which makes me wonder if they sent me the wrong thing.
That being said, I'm sure the right size bar wouldn't be rubbing to begin with, I bet you have the wrong one.

I might have to just round it off. The stock sway bar is rounded off... They might have sent me the wrong thing. The problem is, this was back in 2010 and I'm just now getting all this stuff figured out. That was stupid on my part to wait this long. Hopefully Stillen can take care of me.

I finally got it fixed!! The squeak was simply that the sway bar bushings needed grease. The popping noises/rattle I was experiencing was due to both my upper control arms being loose. I took it by a local shop beside my school (Liberty University) in lynchburg VA and they fixed me up in a few hours. All noises completely gone and it drives better for about 100 bucks.
The sway bar was very rarely hitting (not causing the constant rattle) however I installed the stock sway bar and Im sending this one in for a new one under warranty.
