P-coating calipers and new rotors - SS lines and Project Mu pads?

Hey guys,

I ordered some double slotted and dimpled ("track") rotors from Adam's Rotors, which should arrive in the morning. I intend to drop off my car next week to get the calipers powder coated. I know I need to purchase the rebuild kits due to the high temperatures in the baking process.

While I have the brakes taken apart, I might as well change the pads. I have done some reading and most suggested pads are Hawks, Stop Tech, and Project Mu. I was probably going to lead towards the Project Mu B-Force unless that is completely overkill and I only need the NS? I don't track my car yet, but may eventually a few times. I will do some quarter mile fun runs, and I do enjoy spirited driving from time to time.

Also, when I'm in there, I was going to change out the lines to the Stop Tech stainless brake lines. Are these sufficient? I know there's also Stillen and Z1. Is there much difference between them other than pricing?

I'll need to place my order for these parts soon so I can have everything ready when I drop off my car at the shop. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Jayson

Nice choices Jason
Get your caliper rebuild kits and Stoptech SS lines (and yes, these are good) at RockAuto Parts Catalog might also get a F&R hardware kit for your calipers while you're there, only about $6 for each and you only need one kit for the front and one for the back.
As far as pads, I'd go with Hawk 5.0 HPS pads (be sure they're the 5.0 version), they get stellar reviews for overall performance, in fact I' haven't seen a pad that gets better reviews for daily driving w/ occasional track duty.

What color are your going with on the calipers?

Thanks for the response. I'll check out Rock Auto.

As far as color, I believe I'm going with a bright royal (almost neon) blue, unless I change my mind at the last minute and go with teal. My car is white, and I have Weds Maverick 709M wheels with polished lips and gold faces. I figured a blue would look best back behind there.

I'm also about to start building a fiberglass sub enclosure in my trunk which I'll be painting pearl white, then painting the amp covers gold to match the wheels, and incorporating some carbon fiber accents and blue leds/neon lights, which will draw in the overall theme of the car/wheels/calipers.

That teal looks great on white Gs
Here's a couple slightly different shades

Nice examples. I may even go with the same shade of blue as the brackets on my Cusco strut bar. I can color a few more accent pieces and really tie in things under the hood, as well.

I've attached an example of the brighter blue I was thinking about, along with the Cusco bracket, and the rotors I purchased.

Looking forward to this, nice color there, and tying a few trim pieces in the overall theme is a good plan. Those Adams Rotors look sweet!

Ended up purchasing the Stop Tech lines and Hawk 5.0 pads from Kami Speed. I've gone through Josh over there for my wheels, lug nuts, strut bar, exhaust, high flow cats, and anything else they carry. He was able to match what I could find on Amazon and rock Auto. Highly recommend anyone needing anything to give him a call. Great service since day one!

These are the hardware kits from Rock Auto, right?:

Disc Brake Hardware Front kit Centric # 11742053
Disc Brake Hardware Rear kit Centric # 11742054

Also, for the rebuild kits, which of these are the correct part numbers?

Brake Caliper Repair Kit Centric # 14342039
More Information for CENTRIC 14342039

Brake Caliper Repair Kit Centric # 14342038
More Information for CENTRIC 14342038

And how many of each would I need? These rebuild kits seem to be substantially less than what is offered on Amazon, ZSpeedPerformance, Z1Motorsports, etc, if they indeed are the same parts. While I like to save money when possible, I don't want to go a cheaper route on parts for brakes if they aren't going to be of the same quality. I would like to be able to slow down and stop safely, when and where applicable, hence the reason I am upgrading everything else on y brakes while I have the car apart.

Thanks again, blnewt, for your knowledge and continued help.

Centric makes quality brake parts (they are the parent company for Stoptech), I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.
Those part #s are correct, you need 1 hardware kit for front, one for back, and you need 2 of each caliper kit for front 2 for the back.

Calipers are finally powder coated and on. Waiting on the Akebono decals to arrive to complete the look. Been raining ever since, so haven't had a chance to snap a good photo. Also, I need to take the car back to have my bleed the system a little better, as the pedal is quite soft. They will need to properly bed the new pads, too, since it was raining the day, and the roads weren't safe.

The rotors look terrible because of the wet conditions, but I did spend a considerable amount more to get the rotors that weren't supposed to have this kind of issue. Going to email to company and see if they'll offer any sort of remedy.

Thanks.

Wheels are 20x9 +30 (high-disk) & 20x10.5 +35 (SL-disk)

Tires are 245/35 & 275/35

Probably going to have to switch to 255/295 or 305 rears, soon. About to go with a supercharger and the air to air setup, so those 275s won't stand a chance.

Might take a look at the Nitto NT05s, as long as you don't plan on going crazy in the wet they should kick as$ otherwise. They have a 305/30 that should stick like fly paper, and still has a 200 treadwear rating
NT05 Max Performance Tire

The Toyo R888 would be ok but only only in a 285/35 or 315/30
