Review Tein Basis coilovers on '13 G37S sedan 6spd
That's a really bad idea!
We had someone try that in auto shop class in high school and the spring was under such load that it shot right through the garage door. If someone was standing there, they would have been toast! Fortunately I have access to a shop so I will always use a spring compressor.

It wasn't flying anywhere. And it took 1/10th the time.
But, as always, do whatever you're comfortable with...
I must be reading your post wrong. You say they don't make these for the AWD cars, but you installed them anyway on your AWD sedan?
You do need the top hats for the coilovers as they do not come with top hats. I know the springs are different on the AWD, but you definitely need a spring compressor for the G37S in the front.

I figured I'd get grief over that... Lol

Oh yeah, most coilovers will have their own top hat. That makes sense now if you have different coilovers. You made it sound like you had the Tein Basis.
Just wanted to thank you guys..been itching at getting coils for a while and i have been reading your guys input and decided to buy these tein basis for a hell of a deal at zspeed..thanks again guys

I saw they have a good deal on them for Black Friday similar to when I got them. I think you will like them. Let us know when you have questions.

If you have the right tools and have done a suspension before, the Tein Basis are a breeze to install. Probably the easiest suspension I have ever done. I was pleasantly surprised.
Yeah, the install is really straight forward.
The only doozie was the one large nut (19mm, I think?) on the front suspension bracket. Needed a 24" long 1/2" breaker bar with my jack handle as a 4 foot cheater bar. It just didn't want to give.
I've gone back a few times to change the suspension around since and it was never as hard as that first time, even when properly torqued down. You might want to PB Blaster the f*** out of it the night before...

Did you use a backer wrench on the nut behind that 19mm bolt? I forget what size it was, I used an SAE size that was close IIRC and w/ the nut backed up it popped free easy w/ a 2 ft breaker bar (w/ PB Blast sprayed on the night before.)
