So I have a 2009 Infiniti G37S coupe and will be looking to replace my rear rotors and rear brake pads. Any recommendations on what to get? And which sites to buy from?

I had my front brake pads replaced at the dealership and had the front rotors machined. Should I be looking to replace the front rotors while I'm at it??

 

Centric premium rotors are a step up from OEM and I'd match the pads you have in front (should be OEM pads). If you want a different pad then I'd get a new front set as well, but new front rotors aren't needed as long as yours are performing well. Stoptech Street Pads have nice bite but more dust (worth it IMO), for less bite & dust Centric Posi Quiet Ceramics are a good choice for a daily driver. The rotors and pads can be found at rockauto.com for good pricing, KNS brakes are a good on site vendor as well.

 

So when I replace anything that has to do with brakes, I replace it on all 4 wheels. But hard just for my peace of mind and OCD. It's not a bad idea though... Keep in mind brakes are something you don't want to cheap out on, but there are a lot of good options that don't break the bank. I didn't really choose any of those options lol. I went with Adam's rotors, and Akebono premium pads and could no be happier. Definite upgrade from stock stopping power, super smooth and quiet, low dust, and they look great too! I had some initial squeaking occasionally, but it went away in a month.

If I replace the rear rotors should I go ahead and replace the front ones as well that were machined?

Wow nice, I was just thinking about posting a thread asking the same thing but I did a little searching and found Blnewt's recommendation on Stoptech Centric pads. So far I have my mind set on purchasing the Stoptech's from RockAuto. Blnewt has yet to fail me lol....... *knocks on wood*

 

Blnewt is a good person to listen to. Can't go wrong with his suggestions. As far as the front rotor question, some people don't change all 4 at one time and are fine. If they were turned(machined) they should be fine and have no problem. However I prefer to replace all 4 at one time. But that is just my preference.

 

So in other words, it's okay to mix and match? Because my fronts will be OEM, and the rears will be whatever blnewt recommends LOL.

What about slotted rotors? Any recommendations? I just got STR607 5 spoke wheels and kinda like the aesthetics of slotted rotors haha

 

I'll get back to you tonight. I wouldn't mix & match pads though, either get a full F&R set in a different setup or get OEM rear pads to match the front.

 

I'll just go with OEM rear brake pads. But what about mismatched rotors? OEM fronts, aftermarket rears?

 

I would not mix and match slotted/drilled/blank etc... If you're changing rotor style and/or brake pad compound, I would recommend more than before to change the full set.

If you plan to keep your OEM turned rotor in front I'd stick w/ the Centric premium blank rotor in back. It's similar to the OEM except has better venting.

i replaced my rear rotors a couple years ago with Centric premium blank rotors. bought from rockauto. then i bought OE pads from an online OE wholesaler. i've been very pleased with the end result. no noticeable change in performance or wear from the all-OE setup. rockauto also carries the Akebono ProACT pads which are OE-equivalent so i would not hesitate to go whichever is cheaper out of the two (i just happened to find a smoking deal on OE pads).

OP - this is a very easy DIY if you have a basic socket set. and i didn't touch the fronts, they were fine. as blnewt said, the Centric premium rotors are OE-equivalent so no worries about mix/match on that front.
