Akebono BBK installed. No pressure on brake pedal after bleeding the brakes!

Hello all,

I have a 2012 non-sport G37 sedan RWD. Today my friend and I installed a brand new Akebono BBK. Every parts I bought were based on Brad thread:

So after everything was installed correctly, we bled the brakes using the 2-person method. Then we ran into a problem, there was no pressure on the brake pedal. When we pressed the pedal repeatedly, the pressure built up a little bit. But as soon as we let it go, it lost its pressure. We tried to bleed the system couple more times but no luck. We also noticed that there was a clicking noise in the master cylinder whenever the brake pedal was pressed all the way down.

What could've gone wrong? Please help me!!

Did you install the calipers correctly? Which direction is the bleeder screw facing?

We bled it about 4 times. The fluid comes out strong and solid. Do you think there is still air in there?

Did you bleed both inner and outer? There are 8 in total. Not just the four facing you.

There are inner bleeder screws too? I remembered reading somewhere that the Akebono calipers don't have the inner bleeder screws. I didn't see any while installing the caplipers either

Yes there are inner and outer. I made that mistake too during my diy. It's funny not noticing them when you had it in your hands. Bleed inner first then outer.

Hmmm. Interesting haha. I'll check again. Thank you!

Edit:

It sure does have two bleeder screws. I will bleed it again and see!

Also if your Master Cylinder got too low anytime during the install or bleeding steps you'll have a much longer bleed. But good catch on the inner bleeders, that could very well be where all the air is hanging out.

Yea, I did make sure that the brake fluid was always in between the two lines. I topped the master cylinder off after bleeding each caliper. I won't be back home until Wednesday to re-bleed the brake. Hopefully it was the culprit.

So, after bleeding both the inner and the outer bleeder screws, thanks to Vuedoo for pointing this out, the brakes work flawlessly now

Here are some pictures of my car:

Looks good! It's almost weird seeing someone do BBK and not have slotted rotors now.

Invest in a power bleeder to make the job easier when you flush the system in 2 years. Good investment in the tool - less wear/tear on the master cylinder too. No helper required.

Haha I really like the look of drilled/slotted rotors. Next time when I need new rotors, it's gonna be drilled/slotted.

Thanks. I'll keep that in mind next time
