New Strut brace from tanabe WILL work on G37s

It's listed as just a Q50 application, but here it is~and Rochester, please ignore my ghastly engine bay (it's getting attention soon)

Aw, no worries about the dirty engine bay, Brad. I didn't even notice it.

Good job going out on the limb figuring out fitment for the Sedan. This looks like a very viable FSTB option. It's always felt like Cusco and GT-Spec were the only two 3-piece upper braces out there. Clearance for the CO dials is great, and adjustable lateral support makes sense. The bar looks strong. Any clearance issues between the engine cover or the sound-deadening panel under the hood? Or are you going commando?

And good for you getting your bar in pink. That was brave.

Thanks, and lol on the pink, it's actually an anodized red. You should know by now that my picture skills are iffy at best

So what was the unknown that you figured out? That clean engine bay pick is a Coupe, so I'm guessing it's whether or not the Tanabe FSTB works for both the Coupe and the Sedan... right?

I wonder if that fitment flexibility is because of the design at the ends of the bars, with the adjustment option of the threaded end-points. I suppose that's it.

No actually that's the new Q50 sedan, and it's the only application that the bar is listed for. I looked at the pics and it sure looks nearly identical to our Gs so I just rolled the dice, and it worked.
Here's the bar on their site and scroll down for the current applications~
Tanabe USA Inc. - Sustec Tower Bar
It seems bizarre that they wouldn't have at least borrowed a G to see if it would work since there's about a 1000 to 1 ratio of Gs to Q50s

Ah, the Q50. I get it now. You know, I thought the radiator shroud looked odd...

And I agree: bad marketing on Tanabe's part. The G is getting old, which means owners are getting younger, which is a demographic far more likely to mod than someone driving (leasing) a brand new Q50. Certainly mod with something easily DIY and under $200.

Anyway, nice add to your car, Brad.

Brad that looks great...well at least the bar does Thanks for taking the chance for others, this def seems like a very nice option and for about $50 cheaper than the other 2 options for our cars I think this is a win-win

For perspective, I paid $237 shipped for the GT-Spec FSTB back in January 2013.

If this Tanabe bar were available then for $139 + shipping, I would have bought it... color notwithstanding.

Hey, what are you insinuating
I know, it's a mess, lol.

One important thing that I left out and it clearly states it in the instructions "if you want the bar to lay flatter just shorten the bar with the threaded end links or if you want it taller, lengthen them." That makes perfect sense and I've got about 3/8" of thread on both sides to shorten it, so this weekend I'm going to see if it gives it enough clearance to avoid any liner rubbing, stay tuned........

Shortened the bar via the threaded ends and now it's laying flatter w/ what seems to be no contact now
