Fortune Auto 500 rear coilover noise

Over the past two weeks I have been trying to figure out where this persistent, subtle knock and rubber squeak are coming from. I properly installed a set of OEM style Fortune Auto 500 coilovers. The front is perfect, but when driving under 20mph with the radio off I hear this chatter. I have revisited the rear 4 times now and narrowed the issue down to the damper. Any ideas on how to resolve this? I went with FA because I didn't want to have to deal with the same type of noise people are getting from BC.

Anybody have any ideas? I was thinking possibly that the top hats on the rear shock needed to be tightened. What's the best way to keep the shock piston from spinning when tightening?

Might want to shoot a PM to a few of the guys in the Fortune Review threads, might get better feedback. Good Luck

My rears make some noise too, but I figured it was the camber or sway bushings squeaking. To me it's barely audible at low speeds with the radio off and no one talking (that combo is rare in my car). I haven't dug in to find the source because it's not a big deal to me. I will say this I've owned BC coils on a different car (07 Altima 3.5 6MT) and they squeaked and did make noise (no camber kit on that car). Also they didn't ride as well as the Fortunes (different car, but still big difference). Overall I'm happy with the Fortunes so far.

I do agree that they ride great and the noise isn't crazy loud (but it's still there). I imagine we are hearing the same thing (low speeds, radio off). I read in another thread that extending the length of the shock a bit fixed it for one user. I have had the car up in the air and the rears apart 6 times now, it is 100% coming from the shock itself (at least for me). If extending doesn't work this week they are going back to FA. I'll update this thread with my results.

Yup it is the right rear making noise. I am going to try lengthening the rear shocks a bit and see if I can get the noise to go away. I will post my results.

Did any of you reuse the rubber grommet on the lower rear control arm bucket? Did you insert that between the lower mount and bucket itself or do you have metal on metal contact?

Yes, you put the stock bottom rubber spring mount and add the metal machined part that came with the coilovers for the bottom of the spring on top of it followed by the plastic washer and then the spring on top.
