2009 G37x brakes...terrible noise when cold

Lately I have noticed the worst crunching, metal on metal sound when using the brakes for the first 5 minutes or so when cold (cold weather). Sounds absolutely terrible. Dealership has looked at them twice and said brakes look fine and that noise happens on a lot of other Infiniti's they see. Anyone else experienced this??

Are you possibly getting any surface rust on your rotors between drives?

Possibly only after I wash my vehicles and the rotors after a very thin layer of "rust" on them. I would say have the rotor mic'd and see if it's warped. Your brake pads could be perfectly fine but your rotors could be warped. That's just a shot in the dark I'm throwing out there.

thanks for the replies..I will look into the warped rotors idea. If it is just rust, anything I can do about it?

Rust is a natural thing to happen on the rotors. You'll be able to see and tell that the rotors are rusted a slight bit. Best thing to do is just drive around. Again that could just be the issues of the noise is rust being on the rotors. Where do you park your car and has it been raining or foggy in the area recently if you park your car on the road or drive way.

I park in the garage every night and it has been pretty dry here in the Midwest. So it seems odd that I would develop this rust recently. But I definitely do see rust on the rotors. I have almost 90K miles, so maybe rust just develops rust naturally over time. Appreciate the comments and insight..thanks.
