Steering problem

What would cause my steering to be really hard to turn when barely moving? Checked fluid level and it is good. It humms when turning at slow speeds and is really hard to turn. 2012 with only 25000 miles.

I'm no expert but my best guess beyond the fluid, would be the pump.

Yeah I know about the warranty but I am 7 1/2 hours away from the nearest Infiniti dealer to get warranty work done. Just was curious about what it could be. Found some bulletins where it talked about the Pump going bad possibly if fluid level was good. Anyways car was just picked up by tow company to take it 7 1/2 hours away to get fixed. Thank goodness for the warranty. Will post what the outcome is when I hear something new. I am just surprised that something like that would go bad with only 25k miles and less than 2 years old. Is this a sign of worse things to come.

Are there any Nissan dealers in your area? I'm sure they could fix it under warranty.

I was told by my local Nissan dealer that only Infinit dealers can do warranty work.

jpg you are right. I had to take mine to an Infiniti an hour out for warranty cause in the city im currently in there was only Nissan

Anyways my steering stopped working 2 weeks ago, I knew right away it was a fluid leak or the pump, i actually drove it for 2 weeks with just manual steering, I strained my abs haha

Infiniti replaced the pump, 2 days work (had to order it in), warranty covered it all

I'm just curious, where do you live that the closest Infiniti dealer is 7.5 hrs away?

^More than likely Bismarck North Dakota. I am in Fargo ND for school and my closest Infiniti dealer is my home dealer in Minneapolis which is 240 miles away. Bismarck is even farther west of Fargo.

Not anything to stress, you just got a bad pump.
My coupe was 5 years old with 48k not a problem even close to this.,
Except a motor failure, due to oil consumption.
These cars take a lot of abuse, just maintain her you'll be all set.

Make them get you a rental, I've had to do that once (dealership was out of loaners)
They can cover you for not only car rental, but hotel as well if 100 miles or more away from home.

Good luck with getting your repair all set.

Not to worry, power steering pump isn't a big job.

Ok. So just got the car back from the dealer. Infiniti roadside assistance actually helped me out pretty well. I live in Minot ND which is a good 7.5 hours away from the closest dealer in Minneapolis. They ended up towing the car from my house to MN on tuesday morning. There they quickly determined the pump was bad ordered a new one on Wednesday. Part came in thursday and they sent it back on a tow truck thursday evening. It showed up at my house about 2 am this morning. They did indeed cover the cost of the rental car for the week but I have to send the receipts in for that. All in all I am pleased with how quick they got it fixed and back to me. However setting everything up definitly took some time and patience. Had to speak to the supervisor at roadside assistance bc the one person there said they could only tow it to the nissan dealer in bismarck. And the nissan dealer will not do warranty work. So I'm just glad I got it back and fixed. Thanks for all the replies.
