I'm doing my front brakes this weekend; does anyone have a simple DIY, nut sizes and or any tricks?

My favorite trick is being more specific about what you are "DIY"-ing on your front brakes. Changing pads? switching from regular brakes to big brakes? changing the rotor? bleeding the lines? adding stainless lines? Painting the calipers?

I see! In that case, here is a DIY for you:

https://www.myg37.com/forums/d-i-y-i...37s-video.html

and after you're done, bed your brakes:

Tips:

Make sure your clean out the sockets where the brake pads go while you're in there. You want as little grease as you can, get some brake cleaner and use it. Try to keep it off your paint.

That's nothing, I'm doing mine right now telekinetically as I sit inside at work typing this on my computer.

I second that! Just did all four wheels with hand tools in under 1.5 hours. The only advice I have for you is DON'T OVER-TORQUE the caliper bolts. Use the FSM for specs if you need them.

@GoFightNguyen
LOL I studied that video so many times before I did mine and then when I took off my wheels, I didn't see that panel. At the time, I thought that the brakes were the same even though my xS didn't have the akebonos...

What is the deal with that little hook on the brake pad that appears to be bolted on?

It's to scrape against the rotor when the pad only has 1 or 2 mm of friction material left and make a godawful noise so that you know to change it before it's metal on metal.
