Did Infiniti install the wrong caliper/brake pads on my 2010 G37 Journey?

Hey guys,

Can anyone tell me if Infiniti equipped the wrong front calipers/pads on my car? I have a 2010 G37 Journey. I ordered the the Stop Tech front pads (309.12870). The Stop Tech front pads are pictured on the top. When the mechanic took off the existing front pads, he commented that the pads were different. The original pads are pictured at the bottom. After a bit research, I realized that my current oem pads are of a 888 variety meant for an AWD G37. Can you confirm that is what happened? This is the first time I have had the need to replace the pads on my G. Has anyone else had this happen before? Is this something I should request that Infiniti change the calipers?

This is avery common problem that vendors haven't picked up on yet.

The RWD sedan base/journey has the smaller brake system. (888)
The RWD coupe base/journey has the larger brake system. (1287)

Therefore the RWD sedan base/journey has the same brake system as the AWD version. (888)

Also the RWD coupe base/journey has the same brake system as the convertibles. (1287)

Appreciate the useful information. I ran into this very thing this morning. Fortunately, the nearby parts store has a very liberal exchange policy (I bought the 1287 front pads back in 2015...) and I got my 888's sitting in my garage now.

Yeah, I didn't know about this until I took the wheels off and took out the old pads. It appears it may be the factory using old 2011 parts on the first batch of the 2012's, because the correct 888 pads show up if you search for the 2011 G37.

more like the jac ka zz you bought the pads from messed up. the manufacturer definetely did not put on brakes that were different than the specification you have under the vin.
