Non AWD brake pads and AWD brake pads

hey guys,

Can you help me identify which pads are AWD and which ones are from NON AWD?

I ordered Stoptech front brake pads for my 2011 G37 NON AWD Journey Base Sedan.

I received 4 stoptech pads on the left in the pic. The one pad on the right came off of my front brakes. They are totally different shape and I could not get any of the pads on the left to fit. The vendor says the 4 stoptech pads on the left are indeed the pads for a NON AWD and that the one pad on the right is AWD.

Is it possible Infiniti put AWD brakes on my NON AWD car??

I had a similar situation happen to me a few months ago, though mine was reversed: https://www.myg37.com/forums/brakes-...s-on-an-x.html -- I won't speak for what Infiniti might have done with the brake pads, but that could be very possible. I'd guess the pad on the right are for an AWD seadan.

AWD brakes will provide you with additional surface area when contacting the rotors, so that will be helpful. You'll just need to keep that in mind when buying new pads / rotors in the future.

Looks like that happened to me too. Did you get any feedback or response from the dealership?

Allentown I FIGURED IT OUT! I Posted in the other thread we had going also

After doing some research and selling the wrong part number to the OP I learned that the base/journey has two different brake systems.

The RWD sedan base/journey has the smaller brake system.
The RWD coupe base/journey has the larger brake system.

Therefore the RWD sedan base/journey has the same brake system as the AWD version.

Also the RWD coupe base/journey has the same brake system as the convertibles.

Whew..

This is a very good informational thread. This changes a whole lot on how vendors will approach selling to G37 base/journey cars.
