I hear ya. The only means I really have is that I love wrenching. Not a baller by any means...

I bet you're missing that Z. Loved, loved, loved that model.
I do!! It was a beaut (and fast - 450HP). Here's a pic of her:

More power to you. Merry Xmas.

Ash, you strong-armed me into getting the GT-Spec. It arrives tomorrow. I hate you.

It will probably be another month, but yeah, I'll swing by here. Absolutely no sense in starting yet another FSTB thread. This one is enough fun as it is.

It's winter, and I'm on snow tires, so adding the brace now is even more pointless than otherwise. Purely bling at this time. I'm sure when it warms up and my summers are on the rims, I'll play around with the bar on/off/on-again to see what possible, discernible differences there are.

Also, it's going to be a few weeks wait-time as I drop off the brackets at the powdercoater. That, and I'll be replacing the hardware with Titanium bolts/washers/nuts...

...because racecar.

Lol. Because I know it will make you happy, I haven't painted the bar yet and likely never will! I like the rat car look

Stay warm buddy.

Me You. LOL, it's all good.

The bar showed up today all shiny new... and totally the wrong part. They sent me the part for the previous model G.

The correct bar showed up today, perfect timing for my b-day.

I was thinking when I unboxed it that the brackets might actually look OK in this kind of metallic, dark-teal that they come in. But now that I'm taking pictures of them, and looking at it in different lighting, the blue is coming through loud and clear. Can't have blue.

So... off to the powdercoater with them!

And what's with those collared strut nuts? That's unusual. I wonder if I really need to use them. Once the brackets get torqued down, the collars really don't come into play. Hmm. Ash, did you use the collared strut nuts?

I've got a set of titanium flange nuts I was planning on using.

Mine didn't come with fancy nuts (ha). I just reused the stock ones. Same same to me.

Going with black pc?

Maybe black, since my MW engine bay is pretty much black & white. Or maybe black chrome, like I did years ago with my last car.

Either way, those 3" chrome bolts look cheap. I'm thinking something like this instead:

Rochester - mine has the collared nuts.
2 good reasons for them.
- They will keep the brackets perfectly aligned to where they should be when the bar is in compression.
- They provide greater thread contact compared to using something like the OEM nut that would sit on top and wouldn't grab hold of enough of the strut bolts.

That's the same conclusion I've come to. And unfortunately so, because I really wanted to use these Ti-nuts.

Oh well... I'd rather do it right, and these odd little collared nuts give me an extra 1/8" of thread contact, two threads worth. So I'm using them.

Some good news: after a little elbow grease, and some aluminum polish, the bar cleans up to a mirror-like finish, and that laser-etched GT-Spec logo all but disappears. That's fantastic, because I really didn't want to see that logo. (And full disclosure... it takes a LOT of elbow grease! Ow, my arm, LOL!)

Before installation, I need to look at the engine cover clearance. Here's a decent thread on lowering the cover:
