Are these new akebono brakes?
I ordered akebono bbk from vendor at this site and they look like this. I know scuffed marks are just cosmetic but can they be an indicator of a refurbished item?
Sorry about the pics, they look worst than how it actually is. The side that you would see when mounted are fine. Just that I paid for something new and dont want to mess with used part for safety reason. Thanks

That's a question you''ll need to take up with the vendor.
Did you order "NEW" or "REFURBISHED"?
Pictures don't tell much.
If it happened to be refurbished, the only things that go wrong are the seals, which are replaced.

I ordered it new. Just concern that they sell refurbished item as new.
First picture on the left side there is a scuffed mark. Second pic, on the bottom half around the curve and holes more scuffed marks.

The front of the caliper are fine and the back side will not be seen. Just being overly concerned being that these are what stops the car. That's why I wouldn't buy used brakes and spend the money to get it new. Was expecting brand new and scuff free and box not resealed. Just paranoid.

I contacted vendor awaiting for their response to my query.
I am upgrading my brakes because dealer could not duplicate my braking problem. I rather not chance it when I have family members in my car...plus I get some bling
VERY hard to get all the brake dust off a caliper. I think it's new.
Look at the threads - can't really disguise used threads as easy. Doubt you have to worry though.
We get new Subaru calipers all the time. They are not packed that well and always have a scuff or two.
