Eibach Settling

Well it's been almost two months since my Eibach Pro Kit install and the car seems finally completely settled. Barely 1 1/2 fingers tire spacing in front and 2 fingers in the rear. I noticed two major things:
1. Man it looks sexy down that low.
2. Rides a little stiffer now then when they were first installed. I hope I'm not getting coil bound. Going to write Eibach and ask questions concerning that.

Otherwise the car handles great, flat cornering, great steering response, and tons of control. Also using Hotchkiss sways which I like. Anyone else notice their lowering springs settle that much?

It's a pretty mild drop. My eibachs were also 1.5 & 2 fingers front and rear. But then again we all have different sized fingers haha. But it sounds about right

Excuse the thread jacking but, can you run the eibach pro kit with a 245/275 tires w/o any additional hardware, Example>>Camber kit or spacers?

Yes , Stock 19's....so no abnormal tire wear correct? Thats what I am mostly trying to avoid.

You will have, but very, very minimal.

I have 20" wheels and Eibach. 255/35 and 285/30 tires. I do have some camber wear but very minimal. 3 years, +20K miles and still going.

Simple answer to coil bound is when the spacing of the springs is so small that you have little to no real active spring action while driving. This makes the car feel very harsh on bumps and potholes. It can damage suspension components and or tires and rims.

well if i rmb correctly, the Eibachs are progressive springs - widely spaced at the bottom and very tightly spaced at the top (so tight that it was difficult to find a spring compressor that could handle that)

so, wouldn't coil bound be easily happening with Eibachs? I've noticed that my ride is pretty hard now, too

You may be right especially with this car.

Progressive bind is not full coil bind. To achieve the coil bind being refererred to above, the entire spring must bind, and yes this is not good if it happens.

Not saying it is or isn't in this case as I don't have Eibachs (or a coupe!) but just hoping to add some clarity to the excellent point made above.

On another note, this is the argument in favor of Swift, and their use of less, thinner coils as this approach results in more compression before bind can occur.

Great clarification. I just want to mention that the Eibach springs will not coil bind under normal driving. If any part of the suspension is going to bottom out it will be the bumpstop first.

The stiffness you feel in the ride is from the sway bars. I lowered my car two years ago on Eibach, and noticed very little difference in the comfort of the ride. It wasn't until installing the sway bars this year that I noticed a slightly stiffer ride. But It's not too much as far as I'm concerned, I have been in sports cars with harsher rides. The handling before was nice, but the handling now is ridiculous!!

I run 245/285 w no problem and no camber kit lowered on Eibach.
