A few questions about dropping my car
A few questions about dropping my car
I think I am going to drop my G finally. I had a few questions. I tried using the search but I couldnt find exact answers. I am a noob about dropping my car so I need as much as information from you guys as possible
I have a 09 coupe x with stock rims and I am going to get the eibach pro kit lowering springs. front drop is 1.9 and back is 1.6 inchs. I think this is the perfect drop. I am a super big fan of the stock rims (even more than the sport rims) and I am planning on getting 20s.
I am currently running 225/50R/18 all around non-staggered. I am getting perfect wear on all 4 tires with all season tires. By the way I will be getting all season for the new wheels.
Okay, so here we go,
1. Do i need new shocks for the new springs?
2. Once I drop, with my current stock wheels, will I need to get a camber kit or will an alignment be enough?
3. If I get 20 inch wheels, will I need to get a camber kit? With this question, I know it depends on how thick the tire will be and the offset. I will be running non-staggered on 20s, so if someone knows, what size width rims can I get without getting a camber kit and driving my car with just an alignment. Also, what offset. What would be the best. I want stance 5s, so I would get 4 front stance 5 wheels with all season tires. These would be 20 inch wheels. What offset and wheel size should i get to run these without a camber kit?
4. How much should I be paying for a drop? Does anyone know a reputable shop in NJ that does it for cheap? preferably in central jersey.
5. How much will 20s slow me down? How much would my gas millage decrease with 20s?
These are all the questions for now. All the help given is much appreciated. Thanks so much guys!

Also, I am in time for an oil change. I noticed a lot of people get mobile 1 synthetic but they change oil at around 3k miles.... Why? isnt synthetic supposed to last a lot longer? If so, how many miles in our car?
1. Yes, the springs will make the ride harsh without aftermarket shocks to accompany it. But with the price of shocks+springs, might as well go coils. (Shocks aren't necessary, you can ride them with the stock shocks if you're okay with the ride quality)
2.With a drop if 1.9 & 1.6. 100% yes
3.You'll need a kit for that drop so yes.
4. Around my area is cost about $80-$120 for spring/coils instal..
5. Depends on the weight, tires, etc. But most likely will slow you down so little you won't notice it. Same goes for the gas, it'll decrease your mpg but barely.

I know you said you searched....but dammit actually search. Your questions are covered all over the Brakes, Suspension, Wheels & Tires - MyG37 section. Start there. Google works too.
I dont think I am getting coils. Just springs, Sorry unknown desi. By the way, I used the search, but there are very few posts about the x and more about the RWD since most people have that car.
As for the camber kit, I read that I need one for the back and the front doesnt matter. I guess ill have to get a camber kit for both the front and back.
Is the camber kit the same for an AWD and a RWD? Can someone link me a good camber kit on ebay?
Thanks guys!

Get front and rear camber kits. Get a good quality one from the vendors here. Don't buy cheap junk from fleabay. Camber kits and proper tire rotation will ensure you get the maximum life out of your tires.
With 20s you will notice a drop in mileage and car may become slower depending on how much weight you add. If your worried about the costs and lower mileage etc I suggest to stick with your stocks
