How do I know if my brake pads need replacing?
My brake fluid was low so I went to the mechanic to get it flushed and he said it's crystal clear and topped it off but said that my brake pads might need to be replaced because the pads and fluid go hand in hand? I was feeling a bit pressured to order brake pads through them which I did not want to do. Already have in mind that I'm getting the Hawk ceramics when I need them replaced.
I bought the car used just about 3 months ago so I don't have a comparison for the grabbiness of the brakes. There hasn't been much squealing lately and the weather has been warm so I'm not really sure if they need to be replaced or not. Are there any signs I should look for?

You can look at your rotors and caliper, and judge the depth of the padding that is left on the surface of the pads......or if they get seriously low, you will hear the pad surface indicator (Squeeling)
