Hi guys,
I have a brand new g37s with about 1k miles on it. I have never had a BBK before. I'm experiencing some slight grinding when braking. Is there some sort of breakin period for brakes? Do any of you guys with g37s experience a slight grinding or feedback when pushing the brake pedal? Again it is very slight, not yet squeaking but noticeable. Should I be concerned about this? The car is basically brand new and brakes fine, I just want to avoid damaging my rotors or brakes if there is something wrong. Thanks in advance!

 

Do you have any scoring on any of the rotors? Something may be stuck between the pad and the rotor.

If you don't know what to look for, just take it in and have the dealer look at it.

 

My rotors still are perfectly smooth and unblemished. Does your g brake smoothly from start to finish with no grinding or feedback?

Sigh, back in the shop again it goes. I just got it back last Friday (paint and trim damage in delivery, took a whole week to fix some minor scratches and other issues!). I guess its for the better. Hopefully it will be a quick fix. Thanks for the quick replies.

 

I don't notice any grinding with mine, but the pedal has a minute click to it the first time it's pressed after a cold start. I recall reading something about this in the manual about the abs doing a self test of sorts.

Also, I noticed the brakes don't start grabbing immediately, but rather after the pedal has been slightly depressed. Just something that I need to get used to - this was present in other g37's I test drove too.

 

Does this occur when the pads are cool or when you first begin to drive? New brake pads require proper bedding.

 

I can feel this after I've been driving for a while already.
Well the mechanic at the dealer didn't notice anything abnormal, and it was hard to explain/point out from passenger seat as the feedback is very minor. He was pretty confident nothing was wrong, but it is notated on my account and my warranty should take care of any issues that crop up later. Like I said, this could all be attributed to paranoia, but either way I'll just have to wait and see. Thanks for the responses guys!

 

Then I have the same paranoia - hence the reason I'm surfing the Brake portion of the site. There is a metallic 'feel' as I come to a stop. No squeal. Also - they require more brake pedal pressure than the non-Sport brakes on my wife's G37.

I attributed it to only having around 300 miles on it. I got on the brakes a bit hard a few times today (on purpose) - see if that changed anything. I must admit - either it's mental - or that did improve the feel. Same as you - rotors do not look scored in any way.

I have a rental nonsport g37 this week. Obviously the brakes are weaker, but it feels more smooth or and feedback free. I'll pay more attention to the road feedback as I will be going over the same roads as I normally do and maybe I can either finally attribute the feedback to the road or rule it out as a factor.

 

I have to say - that sensation has either minimized or completely gone away for me after performing a couple of hard stops (again - on purpose - on an open road with no chance of being rear ended!). The brakes seem to grab better now - with none of the sensation I felt earlier.

I believe I am experiencing the same feeling regarding feedback on the brake pedal. I just bought a new g37x few days ago and noticed it. I took to service shop and we took out a loaner where I felt the same thing so I thought it might be "normal" but I'm not so sure.

Is there any updates on what is causing this and how to correct it?
