Wilwood BBK up front, OEM brakes rear... opinions?

Was thinking of doing Wilwood 6piston BBK up front 13" drilled & slotted rotors
and keep rear stock but change rotors to drilled and slotted to match
would this look stupid?

Not much being said about Wilwood on the forums, I thought they were a good brand... anyone have these installed? fronts cost about $1500-1700 shipped

Kit includes parts for both front wheels:
  • Drilled & Slotted, 1.250" Thick x 13.06" O.D. Rotors
  • Superlite 6R Calipers
  • Caliper Mounting Brackets
  • BP-10 Smart Compound Brake Pads
  • Brake Hats
  • All Hardware necessary to install the complete braking system on both front wheels
Complete kit weighs approximately 52 lbs.

anyone know what the OEM brakes weight? i have a non sport

You should consider the AP Racing instead. I have them and love it everyday I drive

thanks for the advice, going price is about $2400 for the front BBK by AP RACING. I don't want to pay an extra $700-800 just to have the 14" rotors.

do you know if there are any other benefits having AP over WILWOOD?

I don't think matching the rear non-sports with 6 piston up front would make for a good balance (unless you're only interested in this for looks)

I would rather spend less and have a FULL Akebono kit. That's just me though.

Why not just upgrade the Akebono pads to some Hawk or Project Mu performance pads... Stainless Steel Brake lines and better brake fluid and drilled/slotted rotors?

Why are you looking for a 6 pot front? will you be tracking or just want it too look better? Aren't you on 18" wheels? Will 6 pot front even clear?

i searched the forum to see whats needed in doing this swap but couldn't find any info.

what would i need to buy to make this work on my car?

also figured the Akebono is 4 piston and the wilwood is 6
but i guess 4 would be good enough...

The OP mentioned he had a non-sport so I'm guessing even the OEM sports would be an upgrade. In that case I'd look around for a used set on board, with some rotors and pads and you're good to go

Stainless lines are a must too, upgraded fluid would also be a good idea

Re: Brake bias. If the Wilwood kit was sized and pieced together properly then the number of pistons shouldn't matter. For any other minor differences in bias, you can always run more aggressive rear pads.
