There was a G37 vert in the shop today "trying" to get a greddy Ti-C installed, so while it was on the lift i poked my head under there and took a good look at the suspension.

From what i can see, the front looks exactly the same, and the rear springs look exactly the same, but the rear struts ARE different.

The lower mounts on the rear struts are different than the coupe/sedan so coils wont fit.

Although the springs MAY be a different spring rate, they mount up exactly the same, so theres no reason coupe springs wont fit.

You MIGHT just have different drop specs, pretty much the same deal X owners go through, the springs fit but they get a different drop.


So will one of you vert owners man up and put some springs on!!!

 

I'll only go so far as to drop the front to even out the gap between front and rear. Without much R&D on the rear drop I'd rather not try and see

 

Theres no R&D, the springs are the same thing. Just put them in and see how the drop is.

Rear springs are EXTREMELY easy to change, you can do both sides in half an hour in your driveway with a jack and jack stands. Literally.


Theres nothing "special" about the suspension. The only thing thats different is the lower mount on the rear struts are different. Otherwise its exactly the same.

 

picture your car when you had no people in the car vs the car w/ 2 200lb guys in the rear, thats whats the problem w/ the vert having a coupe lowering spring in the back

 

ok so its heavier in the rear.

Theres gotta be a spring out there thatll still drop it fine.

you gotta realize how it'll hold the extra 450lbs.

 

Im not saying itll be the best ride or anything.

I just looked under there and saw that it was all the same, so it should all fit.

I still think someone should try it.

If the weight is the issue, you could get springs made for something heavier, like an M.

 

Someone had a posed a question on raising the G, not sure if there was a spring solution and if that had tolerance for an extra 450 pounds.

Not sure if it would defeat the purpose, but

coupe lowering springs in the rear + spring spacers to raise it to an acceptable level.

 

crap.... i bought a new KW V3 kit just hoping it'd fit... but haven't had the time to install for a few months.. =/ I guess this is good to know before I attempt to change it out.. haha maybe coilovers in the front and just springs in the back?

 

That might actually be good then since some people say the Eibachs aren't low enough in the rear.
