Same brakes as Z?
Same brakes as Z?
I was reading through the February C&D, and there's an annual comparison test in there for track times for all "new" (updated) cars. The 370Z had a catastrophic brake failure and crashed into a wall. In a sidebar on the same page, it's reported that Nissan admitted that the brake pads fitted to the car were intended to reduce noise and dust at the cost of performance. As a result, they are selling a more aggressive brake pad as a dealer installed option for track use.
Do our cars have the same system as the Z? They mentioned 4 pots up front and 2 pots out back, and I can't help but note that Infiniti is selling an r-spec pad for the G. I wonder if the stock pads on our cars are also prone to failure if the car is tracked.
Just a topic for discussion, assuming this isn't a repost.

Theres another thread about our brakes prematurely wearing out the front rotors. I guess there's a part that the dealer will replace to let the brakes cool, preventing the warping of the front rotors.
If you intend to track your car, dedicated track pads are always a good bet, or at least more aggressive ones.
