Brake "Update" from Infiniti?
Brake "Update" from Infiniti?
Just took my car in today to get an oil change (under warranty) and the service guy tells me that there is a new "update" for my front brakes! He said there have been issues with the way the front brakes aren't being cooled properly because of some shield and they have FREE replacement parts. They've been doing it on many 07's and 08's with the sport package.
The dealers were out of stock and couldn't replace it for me today but the parts are on order and I should be getting them fixed next week sometime. I'll be sure to see what was written down on my invoice and let you guys know. I basically get free brake pads and something else that will help cool the brakes and prevent over heating.
Anyone heard of this or have gotten this done? Come to think of it, he mentioned something about a rear axle clicking that was fixed today too. I didn't even know there was a clicking or complain to them about this but they took care of it. Have there been some TSBs put out that I haven't read up on?
Just looked at the TSB list and there was one for the rear axle click. Funny thing is I never even heard anything but they said they fixed it *shrugs*

I suspect this is old news as the TSB is for premature warping of the rotors and they will provide an upgrade kit. I had mine done at 23K miles. Check the TSB or search for premature warping on this site.
I'm pretty sure this is the one for the warped rotors. I had it done a few months ago and they resurfaced the rotors, installed new pads, and put in those shields. It worked for a while but I think they are already starting to warp again.

Ok so I finally got my car serviced for the brake "update" as they called it.
They replaced my front backing plates, installed new brake pads, and resurfaced the rotors. The service guy explained to me that this was due to the baffle plate in the front not directing air to the rotors to cool them. What they were doing instead was directing air away from the rotors so things were getting more heated than normal.
I of course didn't have to pay anything as I'm still under warranty. Woo hoo! Has anyone else gotten this done? Just curious to know if anyone else got free brakes as I'm only at 28k miles.

I'll have to look into this too, thanks for the heads up. As far as the axle click, I cannot believe they still haven't figured this one out for production since it started on the 03 Z, crazy! For the click, they simply remove the pin in the hub nut and tighten it as much as possible.
