KSport Coilover Install Question

Hi all,

I recently received my new KSport Kontrol Pro coilovers form HPAuto. It is a spring + coilover design. When I took them to my installer he said that they couldn't be used to lower the car because they would be pulling up on the OEM spring on the spring ledge, which would put pressure on the coilover bolts and eventually break.

I talked to the guys at HPAuto and they said that the stock spring should be removed and replaced with only the coilover. When I talked to my installer again, he said that this might be correct but that the strut was close to the "pivot point" and if i would feel comfortable driving it like this.

Does anyone else have these coilovers? Or have a true spring+coilover in one resulting in the removal of the OEM spring?

Thanks

geoff

I think you need to find a new installer.
Coilovers replace the stock springs and shocks. There should be some install threads on here, most coilovers will look/install pretty much the same way.

Thanks guys...

they were referred to me from someone else on this board, so I'm not sure why they wouldn't know this.

thanks again.

are u talking about true coilover by springs+coilover?

if yes, then u need to remove ur stock springs from the spring ledge and replace your stock shocks with the true coilover.

it will be empty in the place of the spring ledge

+1 on finding a new installer as well.. how can he not know about this
