Braum Seats

Hi All - How are Braum Elite’s in terms of comfort?

I can’t take the G37 Sport seats any longer than 20 min drives.

thank you!

I had an issue with the comfort of the G37s sedan driver seat at first, mainly due to that steel bar that jabs you in the thighs no matter how open you set the seat bolsters to. I ended up getting used to it and it's not uncomfortable anymore. Just in-case you recently purchased the car, I would suggest not rushing this decision if you still want to change the seats because you may find that you don't dislike it as much as you thought.

In terms of your actual question, is there a specific thing you mean by "how comfortable"? In which way?

I don't have experience with aftermarket seats, but that may be something someone who does is interesting in knowing.

I’ve had my g37 for about 12 years… the bottom metal support braces are def not comfortable for my frame, and even the top lower bolsters are uncomfortable. I’m good for about 20 minutes then I’m struggling for comfort.

my car is a manual so I’m feeling those lower metal brackets often. You can actually feel the one on the left of the seat thru the leather.

besides all that… the seat has seen better days from wear and tear. My cars a 2008. Just feels time.

im 6FT 211lbs so it could be the seat is not a match for my frame

Ah okay. The left one was also the problem for me. I'm surprised you waited 12 years for this change.

There's an article on here about cutting out those bars - only that simple fix and it is supposedly a massive improvement. If you're considering replacing anyway, why not start with the bar removal? Worst off you'd be is still wanting aftermarket seats.

that’s a good call, does additional padding need to be in place of where the bars where?

Removing those may help, may drop me just right where the upper bolsters don’t effect me

Or, ya know, you could take a big-*** pipe wrench and bend them outboard...

I would bend them rather than cut them off, they are there for a reason. They keep the foam from collapsing / crushing

One of the mod pages talks about that - the seat bottom is supposedly otherwise the same as the Journey, which does not have the bars. The difference would be the bladders, which would push against foam and the seat cover without the bars there.

I cut those babies off.... They have been hell for the last few years so i'm happy to get rid of them!

I gotta say....im shocked. Totally changed the comfort level of the seats. Going to go for a 30 min drive tomorrow so will report back on comfort. Obviously the Braum seats look awesome so that was definitely appealing, but this may do the trick to get me thru!

If anyone out there is doing this upgrade, I used some bolt cutters, and they snipped right off!

3 Years in mine. Funny but depressive observation: The "you get used to it" is actually the fat in your thighs moves around to accommodate this bar. On the first year I had a light bruise in that area, recently my wife noticed that my left thigh looks different on this side which is something I didnt even think could happen. For those that have not gone through this means you carry a smaller frame or your seat cushioning is still great. Still a fresh seat would do exactly the same, it would squeeze your thighs together a bit more but would end the same.
