Paint Chip Repair with Pearlescent Paint?

Hello so I have a 2010 G37 Coupe with the factory “Moonlight White” paint, which is a pearlescent paint. I got a chip on it about the size of a dime and was wondering if this could be repaired by a body shop without the repainting of the whole trunk! Thank you!

You can go to a paint shop and buy some paint, it will not be exact, but it will be very close. Just dab a bit of paint on the spot let is dry then wet sand it with a 1500, then 2500, and after buff it with a rotary with compound. Their is a video online of a guy repairing a paint chips on a Ferrari it is a really useful tip if you want to DIY it your self.

Dealer has a paint pen for touch ups. My ivory pearl came as a two pens to match it correctly

Never tried it, have you? Curious how that would turn out without the base

Tricoats are damn near impossible to touch up. I’ve always had better luck putting base white down first to make the chip white again then combine your mid coat (pearl) with the base color. Don’t go overboard with the base when mixing, A few drops should be good. It’ll never be flawless but it should be less noticeable.

I don't even put the pearl lol. It always looks like **** and when u get it on the good part of the paint that's not being touched up now or left with a dark outline. I hate it The base matches better on its own lol
