Lightbulb What do do with chrome trunk lid on G37S with plasti dip badge?

Starting to get annoyed by the chrome trunk lid on my black G37S. What is the proper way to get that the same color as the car paint (black)? Is it a matter of painting it, or replacing? Can a beginner do it, or is it best to take it somewhere to get it done? At this point, I haven't done anything to the trunk.

Long-term, I'd like to debadge just the "INFINITI" letters on the trunk, keeping just the mt fuji and G37S letters. I want to preserve the Inifiniti brand and the G37S model, but the Infiniti wording is overkill and makes the trunk too crowded IMO. Also considering a very light smoke tint on the tail lights and possibly plasti dipping the mt fuji and G37 black (leaving S red)... Too much black? ricey? I just feel like the chrome trunk lid would feel out of place if i did the rest and kept the chrome lid (ew). But I don't want it to look stupid. Just in the idea stage right now. Already have GReddy Evolution dual exhaust, so that gives me enough aesthetics from the back for now. Just looking to make some simple, cost-effective upgrades to make it look a little bit nicer from behind (that's what she said?)

Check these Duplicolor varieties, they have gloss finish & smoke tinting too! For the tails I'd cover the led rings and just tint the rest of the taillights. Here's an example on my sedan

Here's the paint

I'd also consider an OEM spoiler to cover the chrome trim, sometimes you can find a genuine one on ebay for decent prices, just be sure it's an Infiniti part.

Had a body shop paint mine for $100. I took it off & gave it to them & installed it back. I debaged the infiniti as well. Been fine for 4 years.

Thanks everyone - all were helpful. I think i’m going to go with nite shades on the tail lights with the dupli color gloss finish, and do the debadge of the INFINITI letters to start. Will see how that looks, and may get the chrome trunk painted later if it looks too out of place. Will try to post some pics when done! It’s supposed to rain for like 2 weeks straight, so might have to wait a bit lol.

Thanks for posting pics - looks awesome! Essentially the same look i'm going for from the back! When you plasti dipped it, did it match the paint well enough? i considered that, but was afraid it would look too different than the original paint, even with a glossifier. I like the carbon fiber wrap idea though, because it is contrast enough so that it doesn't look like you're trying to do an exact match of the paint, but you still get rid of the chrome with a close match. was the wrap hard to apply? do you happen to remember the brand/color you used for the wrap?

Pics

Alright - so I spent last weekend doing the partial de-badge, and the tinted tail lights. Ironically enough, I decided not to do the chrome trunk lid (for now). I have the plasti dip and glossifier on hand, so maybe one of these days when I have some free time, I'll give it a shot to see what it looks like. Here is the progression of what I did so far. It needs a good wash and wax, so you'll notice it get dirtier throughout the pics lol.

Nothing done yet
