Hello, I have a 2009 Journey Sedan. The inside of my gas cap broke today while it was on the car and I barely got it removed so I could fill up. Anyway it looks like the part 17251-JA00A has been discontinued and I'm seeing some conflicting information about what number supersedes it. I found a couple on eBay and Amazon but I want to make sure they are correct before I order. Also, spending $45 on a cap seems insane, will a generic auto parts store cap work or is it going to throw codes?

Infiniti 17251-1NC0B was one possibility I found.
Are caps for coupe and sedans really different and are there different caps for different years....seems they'd all be the same for all years within a generation at least.

I searched but couldn't find much.

I ended up ordering one from https://capsmoito.com/ that it supposed to work. Yes I googled and from what I read they are not generic and the incorrect one can throw error codes which I didn't want.

 

Google can be a dangerous thing.
