Spent $800 and lighting is better but was I ripped off?
Spent $800 and lighting is better but was I ripped off?
I just got this quote from HID Pro Kits. I did this work with them and the headlights are undoubtabley brighter. I don't know lighting that well so was hoping that someone who does could advise me if I had been ripped off or if this estimate makes sense? Thanks.
To swap the low/high beam bulbs I was told the bumper needs to come off. That's why they said it was 1 hour. Then they said the ballast was bad which was why they charged the second hour. They also said it took an hour to do the HID conversion for the daytime running lights. It took 15 minutes to install the turn signal bulbs. Also it was 10 minutes to install the last other two small bulbs. This seemed high but I wasn't sure.

Some ripping off from the stealership here: you do NOT have to take the bumper off to access the lights. i don't know what year your car is, later models have the fogs lower where they are supposed to be but other then that all lights, (headlights, city, turn signal) can be accessed by taking the tire off and going in through the rear. Remove the rubber cover, you may need new clips if you break the existing ones (autozone). I accessed mine by just turning the wheel and working from the back. Much easier then the bumper. If you are having a unit replaced then the bumper will come off, but for replacements of bulbs and ballast the rear is much easier, faster, and therefore cheaper. There is a thread here showing the location of the bulbs from the rear. Watch out for people that talk you into stuff just because its an Infiniti!!
