agree with above, you might wanna buy some civic lights on ebay or junk yard and experiment on one, thats what i did, open em up, and reseal them, paint them and just get a feel for it then move on to your lights. its the same concept. once youre done youre gonna laught at yourself for even thinking of paying someone 800+ to do this ****

Agreed, once you do it yourself you're gonna be so satisfied seeing them on your car every time afterwards and knowing you saved more than $500

now that my wheels modding is over, back to the headlights. I've read the forums and reviews and I am starting to lean away from halo's. Anyone know anything about the "D2S: PHILIPS 85122 WHV2 WHITE VISION (6000K)" HIDs? Cool white is my preference and while the Osrams are sick, they say "cool blue."

The Osram CBM are cool blue but believe me they are white. The 6000K you speak of from Philips used to be the Ultinon. I would lean more towards 5000K which is a healthy balance between performance and aesthetic. Below should be your 2 options.
Osram 66240 CBI
Philips 85122 XV

These bulbs will give you ample output with a touch of the aesthetic look as well with a pure white beam. I too live in Boston and had my previous Q60 coupe headlights done by 180 in NY, it was basic work which was swapping to a clear lens and cutoff shield modification which made the beam sharp and gave it that flicker look with the CBI bulbs. I had to take the headlights off and ship them and since NY is not far, they received the headlights in one day and had them done and shipped out the same day. I was without my car for 2-3 days tops. I plan to have some basic work done on my Q50 headlights as well.

good shyt man, and solid ex's you've had. I'm ready to pull the trigger on my lights upgrades - STI-R lens, osram, vled switchback, and vled parking lights. My last question is, i'm sure most body shops in/around boston area are more than capable of switching out lights/lens but would I need to go to a certain place based on the items im ordering or no?

+1 for OneEighty in NY. They do stellar work. I've seen too many headlight jobs gone wrong so I shipped my headlights all the way from CA to have them do the work.

or you can look back through this same thread that your posting on as the DIY is listed and if you can work a screwdriver and socket, then you can take out your headlights.

I used V-LED's V3 Triton as turn signals and those were by far the brightest LED for a turn signal in the market, I would look in to that as well. As for removing the headlight, well - I did it myself, plenty of DIY on how to remove the bumper and thats the key, you need to remove the bumper to make life easier, after that it's a 15-20min job removing the headlight. You'll also need to remove some of the extra tabs off the headlight to shed weight and to ensure no mounting tabs get broken during shipment. OneEighty do a good job wrapping everything up, I went to the UPS store and the did everything for me.

I went with the OSRAM CBI bulbs in 5K crystal white along with the V3 Triton switchbacks and was very please with the results... I don't think they look cool blue as all. Here's a list of what I purchased.
194 5K WHITE 6 LED HIGH POWER 360° 180LM | 1 PAIR
D2S OSRAM XENARC 66240 CBI 5000K CRYSTAL WHITE | 1 PAIR
V3 TRITON GEN 2.5 WHITE AMBER LED SWITCHBACK SYSTEM 7443 | 1 SET

Here's a pic of the front bumper dropped when I removed the headlights. You don't even need to remove the entire bumper, just drop it from the top down and leave all of the bottom bolts attached. I just put a couple of small boxes under the front edge of the lip to support it while the headlights were out. Took less than an hour to remove both headlights... and, yes, that included drinking at least a couple of beers.
