Rust Bubbles on the roof...

Found a small area of bubbles on top of the roof. I am 90% positive these are rust bubbles.

Should I get it repainted?.. or just leave it alone..........................

The bubble area is size of a nickle or penny.. maybe little smaller.

I can't believe I noticed this now.

So many issues this month..

In my experience bubbles that appear in paint/rust bubble indicates corrosion from the inside of the panel working its way out. If you can its best to stop them from spreading as its the kind that will eat away at the car. That being said, in practice, I tend to let body panel corrosion like that get worse before I do anything about it because its usually already a lot worse under the surface already and the entire panel will need to be refinished...its not a matter of overlaying some filler/touch up paint...if you don't get all the rust it will just come back

Why not take it to your local Infiniti dealer for an inspection? Take a closer look at the damage and use your body warranty if corrosion was the cause.

Ummm, he's in a current "situation" w/ his local dealer, but maybe another within a reasonable drive perhaps?

The warranty is for "perforation" and since there is no hole, they won't do anything. I suspect it is a stone chip exposed the base metal and it is rusting under the paint.

If you do nothing, it will continue to grow wider and deeper. If you plan on keeping the car wither fix it yourself or pay someone to fix it.

I took it to other infiniti dealer.

The inspector told me the 'basic' corrosion warranty is 4 years.

However I have CPO Elite extended warranty. Not sure that would do anything about this.

The inspector inspected the bubble, did not see any rock-chipped so he took some pictures and information so he can send them to Infiniti.

He told me wait at least 48 hours to get the decision from Infiniti.

Let's see how they will handle it.

The manager who called the infiniti went out for vacation. The other associates told me that I have to wait until he comes back.. (what?)

Anyways, this is the exactly what I have on my roof. Probably a bit smaller.

Keep us posted. If you're going to fix it by yourself, sand the affected area, apply rust converter, primer then paint.

Updated 7/25/2016.

Infiniti Service Manager called me today.

Told me that it is not the corrosion damage but it seemed to be an issue with clearcoat and the paint. Manager however did get an approval from infiniti to fix my roof! which is awesome!!! I definitely like this dealership better than the other one.

Right above the driver side A-pillar.

Just noticed a similar problem on my 2010 G37x Sedan. It's not a rock chip.

I bought the car new in Oct 2010 and the trunk had rust perforating from the inside, too, within 2 months of delivery. That was taken care of by the warranty.

Glad they were able to take care of you and you found a good dealership!

I went and looked, and my '13 Journey Sedan has a rust spot in this exact same location that also doesn't look like a rock chip. I wonder what the odds of the dealer warrantying it would be, considering other spots on my car unfortunately do have rock chips?
