Both LED DRL stopped working at the same time
Both LED DRL stopped working at the same time
Hi, Last year I bought LED from Diode Dynamics to replace the originals drl/fog on my 2009 xS. I'm not sure if it supposed to be called Fog or drl but those ones (bottom left)
They both stopped working at the same time last week after a bit more than a year of use. I tought it might only be the fuses, so I followed a procedure found here to acces the fuses next to the car battery and I checked and replaced both DRL and Fog because I'm not sure whitch one is it, but it didn't worked. I took the extra fuse in the fuse box inside the car next to driver seat. They seemed in good conditions, but I might be wrong...
So anybody have a idea of what else it could be ? What are the chance that they die at the same time after only a year ? I really love the look it gave to the car and wish to get it back
Thank you

Highly unlikely both "light emitters" (we used to call those bulbs) would fail at the same time. Grab "EXL.pdf" from here:
Index of /FSM/G37/Sedan/2009
DLR involves about 6 fuses - #3, 10 & 11 in the cabin, #50, 51 & 58 in the IPDM. There's also a fog lamp relay involved. Hopefully that book will help you trace it.
Do they work properly as fogs - low-beams on, foglight switch on?

Thanks I will look at this and give feedback, I'm away from my car for 2 weeks for now, but I hope it will fix my problem
And yes they were working the same as the oem ones with the fog switch when headlight is on and as drl when the headlight are off. I don't know if it's the same system for us in Canada since it's mandatory to have drl here.

I looked at the .pdf but I'm a bit lost in the +200 pages
I don't find the page where I can refers the fuse number you gave me. I took a google image to show wich fuse I did change.

According to your message I would also have another one from this box to look at ? And can you also tell me wich ones from the cabin are 50, 51 and 58 please ? And while I was trying to google where the fog lamp relay is, I found this diagnostic procedure.

• Oil pressure warning lamp
• Front wiper (LO, HI)
• Parking lamps
• License plate lamps
• Side maker lamps
• Tail lamps
• Front fog lamps
• Headlamps (LO, HI)
• A/C compressor (magnet clutch)
• Cooling fan (cooling fan control module
Operation Procedure

When auto active test is performed with hood opened, sprinkle water on windshield beforehand.
2. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
3. Turn the ignition switch ON, and within 20 seconds, press the front door switch (driver side) 10 times.
Then turn the ignition switch OFF.
CAUTION:
Close passenger door.
4. Turn the ignition switch ON within 10 seconds. Af
ter that the horn sounds once and the auto active test
starts.
5. The oil pressure warning lamp starts blinking when the auto active test starts.
6. After a series of the following operations is
repeated 3 times, auto active test is completed.
NOTE:
When auto active test mode has to
be cancelled halfway through test, turn the ignition switch OFF.
It did work, I had the horn noise and the wiper started by themself but I don't exactly know what I was supose to expect out of this
I just filmed the dash in case it gives a message or whatever, but after 5 minutes still nothing exept those lights on :
Does it show something helpfull ?

Sorry for taking your time, if after finding all the possible fuse it still doesn't work I will have to bring it to infiniti, I would just be upset to pay like 200$ to ear I only had to change a stupid fuse
Update from today, I went back to check the fuse, cause the last time, I changed it with the spare one near the driver feets but finaly the spare one was broken too :/ So now that the fuse is fine, only the passenger fog light working. When I decided to change my foglight with LED it was because the OEM one on driver side was broken. So now I guess I have a problem with my driver side foglight cause it not suppose to die in just a year. I will check the socket to see if I find anything wrong, but now I know It's not the fuse or the relay. If anyone have any idea why my driver side fog light dosen't last long please let me know
Maybe I'm just unlucky and when my OEM one die it was only because it was older and I had a random problem with my LED one, but it looks more like there's something wrong with the connection...
