So tonight my girlfriend was trying to be nice and was pulling my G closer up in the parking lot. When she was getting out of the driver door to go around to the passenger seat it was really windy, so when she opened the door the wind ripped the door out of her hand and it slammed into the car she parked next to. Take a look at the pics and let me know if or how I can fix this. The edge of the door is dented and looks like it creased it as well. Am I going to have to buy a new door or could a body shop fix this?
that happened to me once exactly like wat happend to u except my door whacked the wall pillar. fk i was pissed. damage wasnt as bad bc i had a hkdm cf door guard lol
hmmm well usually when a panel is creased most body shops will replace instead of repair because it is hard to get the crease out without having the panel look all jacked up. will prob be kinda expensive. def easier to go to a shop and get a quote.
Call your infiniti dealer and see if they do minor body repairs. I did for door damage worse than that and got a q40 loaner to drive around for a week. Very reasonable price too!!
pdr wont fix that...
damn.. if it did that kind of damage to your door.. its probably worse for the other car..
hope you did the right thing and notify the owner..
Yeah it was at my work and I told the guy whose car it hit. His car was fine somehow. Said there was a small scratch that buffed right out. I wish mine would just buff out :[ I will hit up a couple body shops and see if they can fix it. Anyone have this happen and try to get their insurance to fix it? Or is that not worth it?
of course u can get ur insurance u pay for it. u jus have to pay ur deductible assuming the cost is more than the deductible and then you will have a claim on ur insurance record
I own a pdr business, I fix doors like that all day. Find a tech that has years of experience (not all techs are the same) and make sure it's done on a hot day, or the metal is heated (this will prevent more paint cracking)
The cracked paint at the edge would always be there, but the dent can be made to go away. Of course, if the cracked paint really gets to you, a respray is needed. Btw, pdr on this should run no more than 125.
$770 isn't to bad, what all did they have to do to fix it?
I believe they removed the door panel and pounded out the dent. Then re-sprayed paint to match. Turned out really good. The tech did tell my wife i was lucky the dent was in the right spot. Otherwise, the whole door skin would have had to be replaced. I think he was talking about the cross bracing or something? IDK that car ('10) is long gone i have a 2013 now.
