New headlight
New headlight
Found a couple days ago that I have a headlight out.
Took it to the dealer today... they want $1200 for a replacement part, plus labor to install. I was more than a little shocked... all parking lights in the assembly work, it's just the main headlight that is not functioning.
They can order the part and have it installed in just a couple of days, if I'm willing to pay their stated cost. They were sympathetic with me and said if I could find another part that's less expensive, they'd do the installation. The problem is, I need this replaced in less than a week, because I'm taking a long roadtrip after next weekend and I need both headlights working.
Does anyone have any suggestions for me?
EDIT: According to the service slip, it says the headlight "needs ballast, not sold separately from headlamp assem." This seems like a part I should be able to procure on my own. Only problem is I need it in less than a week.

If it is just your headlight bulb that burned out than here is a replacement set of 2 bulbs for $50.

You will want 5500K for the pure white look.
Dealerships usually charge $200 for EACH bulb. $400 for a set.

If it's the ballast that you need than here is a set for $170.

Try swaping your bulbs pass side to driverside ETC. that way you will know if it's a bulb or the ballast.
Then i would take qmantrans advice and buy from retrofit source.

All good info here. Swap the bulbs from one headlight to the other to rule out bulbs. Then if needed, grab the retrofitsource ballasts. They have been awesome to me in my numerous orders and emails. You can go wrong. DO NOT pay the dealership, this is very easy work.
If you just want it done, order the bulbs and ballasts, fly me to your house to repair it, buy me a beer and send me back. It'll still be cheaper than the dealer..
