Change overhead light.

How do you change the bulb on the passenger side, overhead light?

Is there a DYI somewhere on this site?

Also, is there a way to brighten the light itself? I looked thru the menus for a dimming setting but didn't find one.

Thanks
David

Look into Diode Dynamics they sell all interior and exterior lights at great prices and have DIY videos for mostly everything. And they're a well known respected vendor here on this forum.

The cover pries off, use a small screwdriver wrapped in a cloth to keep from damaging the plastic. Any LED bulb will be brighter than what's in there now.

LED bulbs make a HUGE difference in the overhead lights.

I used a trim-remover-wedge-part-thing, but I've used a credit card/business card before in my old G35 - LEDs look 42 times better..

The light outside of the car messed up the effect but you kinda get the idea.. I'm sure there's more pics everywhere, but yep:

I have the entire LED kid from Diode Dynamics that I'm about to post up for sale in the classifieds when I get a chance. It's a complete kit with every LED necessary for the interior and exterior of the car all brand new never opened.

I just found some instructions on this site:

(you dont need these complicated LEDs though, a simple LED/bulb will work.. buy kennyzs LED kit :P)
Exact Direct Fit LED Panel Light Interior Package Installation Guide

The cover actually over the light, or over the whole assembly?

Just the cover, if I remember correctly all of the interior lights have covers that pry off without actually needing to remove the housings, other than possibly the lights on the bottom of the doors.

The translucent cover over the bulbs itself. Just be vary careful because the trim around it is weak and easy to scratch - so use a cloth or credit card to protect it. .. Just pry and it pops right off. It will make you nervous at first but its hard to get it wrong.

buy a "trim removal kit" from Harbor Freight ($7.99). various plastic trim removal tools - comes in handy.
5 Piece Auto Trim and Molding Tool Set

bonus: is it possible to replace the tiny overhead "spotlight" bulb on the passenger side?
