Goof off will damage paint within mintues. I know from experience when removing stickers off an old computer case for repaint. That area around the emblem looks like how my computer did... It's possible you're clear coat is damaged even if you manage to buff it out with compound.

Easy way to tell is to compound the area a little. If you get black on the pad, you're through the clear. If not, you're good.

I used an aggressive compound with an aggresive pad, and went through the clearcoat while I was trying to remove the 'ghosting' from the dealer decal. I'm going to try and blend it myself, if that doesn't work I'll have the trunk resprayed. Future plans call for an Outcast Garage Zele replica kit, so I might just wait until I do that and have the whole car done at the same time. Glad to hear the WD40 worked for you, it's a great way to remove tar too and it won't hurt your paint.

dude thats scary i felt so bad hurting the G like this man! lol i was trying to avoid wasting the unnecessary 300$ to respray the trunk especially to match the OB paint job -_- that would be cool with the replica kit, i honestly thought if i ruined the trunk i was going to go duckbill haha WD40 so useful im starting to learn lol
