Paint chip help
Paint chip help
I hit my Ivory white g37 the other day, and the body shop i took it to said that if i wanted to get this repaired i need to paint the whole part, i most definitely don't want to do that, so what should i do? Also the bottom rear bumper is what i got painted.. (Told him the color doesnt really match and he said he still needs to let the paint dry and buff it) what do you guys think?

Wait to see what it looks like after he nibs the paint and he buffs it. Sometimes its just a matter of re-texturing that can make the color look different. And if it isnt dry yet then the paint will certainly turn as it cures... never the less.. that's a big difference according to that photo.
With regard to fixing ships like that. There are some who do a good job at spot fixes, but for the most part, based on how much that paint appears to have aged, I would think that painting the whole panel is a easiest for the best paint match.
Os that where your bumper and side rear quarter panel meet up? If so that's always a difficult match. Metal surface vs plastic

In my experience it matches better after curing and buffing than before. How long has it been since it was painted? I will say that its difficult to match perfect. Even from the factory you can see a slight difference in the paint on the plastic and the metal- albeit very slight. Yes I think touch up is a good option on the ship. If you can find a touch up marker for application it would probably look smoothest since its such a precised area
oh yeah.. its definitely going to look like it doesn't match well that soon.. see what it looks like in a day or two.. Usually it takes a few weeks for the paint to fully cure so you may even notice it blending better over a longer period of time. It should not be as noticeable as in the picture though when you pick it up. And a really good bodyshop will have it matched to the point where you cannot tell at a casual glance at all.
