Auto Window Rollup Sucks!!!

My drivers side window keeps rolling down about 6 inches after I roll it up using the auto roll up feature. This really is annoying because it's happened at least 10 times. I've searched here and found out you have to hold the switch up or down for 10 secs (can't remember which) to reset it. Well this seems to be only temporary because it comes back. Could this be a prelude to a bigger issue or a symptom of something else? My car is a 2010 G37S with extendend warranty. Going to the dealer is such a major pain in the *** though and would rather skip it if possible. Anybody have suggestions or advise?

I would go to dealer and let them fix or replace any defective part. Also I would request a loaner car as well. This is what you paid the warranty for, isn't it?

Sounds like the sensor in the door is bad. It's that "safety" feature that rolls the window down if it sensors an obstruction. Very common to fail in most cars. The module should be behind the door panel.
If you have warranty, suck it up & just let them fix it.

My car does that when I leave it under the sun for a couple of hours (when the door is really hot). I just bring it up without the auto because It would do as you state, goes up and then down a couple of inches.

Things break, go get it fixed .... you are under warranty so it's a no brainer.

Not sure why you bought an extended warranty if you don't intend on using it. The solution is simple, have the pros look it over and fix it for free.

From: Framingham Ma,
Agree with the door sensor being shot.

The argument still holds true .... you HAVE an extended warranty and don't want to use it.

He just doesn't like the G for whatever reasons and this "alleged problem" is just another rant for him to complain about. There are several other posts authored by him regarding his opinion on the G's "shortcomings."

Anybody who pays a significant amount of money for a car-especially one with a extended warranty- would automatically go to the dealer and have the issue resolved. Additionally, if they didn't like the car they wouldn't keep it "for a few more years."

Something is just off.....
