From what he says, it doesn't look like he was aware of the accent lighting. OP, the accent lighting kit is available through infiniti, there are probably many other aftermarket options as well. You can also by the led strips and mount them under the dash instead of at the side that way you'll never see wires and the strip will be hidden as well.

Plus, you could even take those same lights and get them under the dash and have them utilizing the same function.

Looking at this thread on my phone, the pictures are naturally small. I didn't click on them to enlarge. I thought the people in here were being hard on you.

Then, I clicked on the pics and enlarged them. The comments are spot on. It's ghetto

At least put the switch behind some plastic so it's just a toggle sticking out. In my 1987 Plymouth Horizon back in high school, I had enough respect for my car to do this when I added a toggle for my sub amp.
